FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD
You may say some of the titles listed below should be rather included in the GOOD OLD CLASSICS list, and you'll be right, but this is my personal list. From my point of view, these are books written by authors from cultures quite different from the one I grew up in, and such books can literally rip you out of your comfort zone. They sometimes feel disturbing, and niggle at you for a long time. They open your eyes and make you think. A lot.
